Ramsey County authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect in a sexual assault.
It happened just before 8:00 Tuesday night in Vadnais Heights, near the intersection of Centerville Road and Pondview Drive.
Ramsey County Sheriff's deputies say a woman was walking on the sidewalk when a man ran up from behind, forced her off the path, and sexually assaulted her.
After the attack, she ran to a nearby home for help and was transported to a hospital for evaluation and treatment.
The suspect fled north from the scene.
Commander Mike Hankee calls it a brazen and highly-unusual attack.
"This is way out of the ordinary for something like that to happen, and especially for a stranger sexual assault to happen," says Hankee. "In my 26 year career, I cannot recall anything like that in that area at all."
He is described as being a white man in his mid 20's and about six-feet tall, with a muscular build.
Anyone with information about the attack, suspect, or video from the area around the time the assault occurred is asked to call investigators at 651-266-7331.
"If they happen to hear something that they thought was unusual or see something that they thought was unusual, maybe if somebody is driving on Centerville Road who might have had some kind of dash cam or something like that that may have captured something that they're they're not aware of, we're asking them to look at their cameras," Hankee explains.
