The recent rain to hit Minnesota this month has indeed had an impact on the state’s drought conditions, according to state officials.

Assistant State Climatologist Pete Boulay says some areas in Wright County got so much rain they’re seeing wet basements.

“Well, if we wanted a perfect case scenario to help us out with the drought, we got it in the last 24 hours, getting about an inch to two inches of rain in a wide swath,” Boulay said.

While he says Minnesota is still in a drought, this is a good start, and that the next phase of recovery is bringing back our lake and river levels.
