Authorities say human remains believed to be that of a missing Twin Cities man have been found in northwestern Wisconsin.
Douglas County Sheriff's Department officials say personal items found with the body indicate it is that of 89-year old Edward Hanton of Mendota Heights.
Hanton went missing in late July after family members said he may have been heading to Superior or a family cabin near Amnicon Lake.
His car was found in the area a few weeks ago. He went missing from his residence during the afternoon hours of July 22, 2026.
A forensic examination and positive ID will be conducted, and the investigation into what happened will continue.
