The Rice County Sheriff's Department is looking for information from the public about a deadly crash on the southern edge of the Twin Cities that killed a 14-year old boy and critically injured two other young people.
Authorities say it happened in Webster Township around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday night. Two pickup trucks collided head-on and a passenger in one of the trucks, 14-year old Brantley McCarty of Lakeville, died at the scene.
The crash occurred on 30th Street West, east of Fairbanks Avenue in Webster Township.
The two drivers were a 16-year old and a 20-year old, also from Lakeville. Both were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash. Their seat belt use is unknown at this time.
“Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones affected by this tragic incident,” said Rice County Sheriff Jesse Thomas.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Rice County Sheriff's Office.
