A bridge project starting today is expected to impact traffic along Interstate 94 just east of downtown.
The Riverside Avenue bridge will be closed through Monday, August 18 for maintenance work.
Drivers will be directed to use the 25th Avenue South bridge as their detour.
MnDOT is urging drivers to pay attention, drive with caution and slow down in work zones.
The closure is part of a much bigger project. Riverside is one of five bridges along I-94 getting a facelift this summer with smoother and safer riding surfaces.
I-94 is reduced to two lanes in both directions between 11th Ave. South and Franklin Ave. Southeast Westbound Hwy 55 ramp to South 7th St. is reduced to one lane.
