Because of the ongoing extreme drought in Minnesota, one city has mandated its residents to stop using water for unnecessary reasons.

The city of Sartell has implemented a complete water ban. The city had started with an odd/even schedule. It has since had to reduce to a two days a week and one day a week schedule. Now, because of the extreme drought conditions in the area, they have banned watering.

The city stated that these watering activities are banned effective immediately:

- yard sprinkling
-power washing buildings
-car washing
-swimming pool filling

The city also announced that Splash Pad at Watab Park will also be shut down until further notice, but Celebration Wading Pool will still be open.

For residents who do not abide by the ban, there will be a $100 ticket. The ticket will go up $100 with each violation.

The city and the DNR will work together to lift the ban when conditions will allow.
