Minneapolis Police investigating after a daycare full of children visiting with Santa was shot at Tuesday evening.

It happened around 5:00 p.m. at New Horizons at 34th and Penn in North Minneapolis.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara minced no words talking about the shots fired at the daycare when he spoke Wednesday.

"Bullets fired from almost a block away damaged two windows in a daycare center," says O'Hara. "And that's absolutely outrageous."

O'Hara says they have seen a spike in violent crime in the city over the past three months, with 12 people killed in the past month alone.

O'Hara says he wants better for the children of Minneapolis.

"Too many of our kids in this city are living on blocks where the sound of gunfire is regular," says O'Hara. "It's just background noise. That's too much."

According to police, nobody was hurt in the incident. Nearby officers tracked down a suspect and arrested him but have said they are still looking for other suspects. The suspect police arrested Thursday apparently still had a gun on him.
