A popular northeast Minneapolis bar is scheduled to reopen today after a fatal shooting over the weekend. It happened at the Spring Street Tavern Saturday night.
Minneapolis Police spokesperson Garret Parten said the victim and the suspect knew each other and that an argument started the violence.
"Preliminary information indicate the deceased male and another male who was known to him got into an argument. The suspect produced a gun and shot the adult male and he died on the scene."
The suspect, a man in his 40s, was taken to the hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained during the fight.
This was Minneapolis' 75th homicide of 2022. Parten says that number is too high.
"Fortunately we're down, but that's still 75 people and families that are impacted this year in Minneapolis."
