Work crews in St. Louis Park are repairing Minnetonka Boulevard at Texas Avenue after a water main break flooded dozens of homes in the area. It’s the second time in two weeks homes in that area have dealt with flooded basements.

Susan Bowen owns one of the homes hit by the latest flood. She says she loves the city and has been there since 2016. But she said enough is enough.

“This actually happened two weeks ago where water flooded for four hours,” Bowen tells WCCO’s Susie Jones.

Bowen says they cleaned up the first flood, and it happened again this past Friday. She says it's starting to take its toll.

“I was dealing with the first one and now I don't know even what to do,” Bowen explains. “Like, I don't trust that it won't happen again.”

Apparently, the water main breaks are due to a sinkhole that has formed in the region. Work crews were out trying to repair it on Monday.

The city is planning a meeting Monday night for residents who have questions at the Lenox Community Center. A representative of the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT) will be on hand. Bowen says she has a lot of questions at this point.

The first flood happened on Saturday, May 21 and hit around 45 homes. The water main breaks didn’t affect the drinking water supply according to the city of St. Louis Park. The water did flow underground through the sanitary sewer, emerging in the basements of nearby homes.
