St. Louis Park police are asking the public to help find a man accused of grabbing at least five women over a one-month period along a popular trail.

Police on Tuesday said the incidents happened between October 9 and November 12 on the North Cedar Lake Regional rail from the Dakota Park area in St. Louis Park to the Cedar Lake area in Minneapolis.

St. Louis Park Police Lieutenant Paul Barnes says there are a few thing you can do to keep yourself safe if you plan on visiting the area.

"We would like you to be really aware of your surroundings," says Barnes. "Keep your head up, be scanning, make sure your headphones aren't up so loud that you can't hear somebody approaching you and just look like somebody who's assertive and aware of your surroundings. And that often deters people."

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5'7'' with a thin build, ranging in age from late teens to early twenties.

Victims told police that the man approached them on an electric scooter and either attempted to or successfully grabbed them over their clothing.

"This was more of a kind of a groping situation," Barnes explained. "It appears that this person is following the people for a short amount of time. Some of the victims reported seeing the subject shortly before he approached them. We're probably looking for a young person, late teens, early twenties, of a small stature, using a scooter."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the St. Louis Park Police Department's crime tip line (952) 924 2165 or email info@stlouisparkmn.com.
