The 14th reported homicide of 2024 in St. Paul, and the third this week, happened Friday morning in a quiet neighborhood south of Como Park.

Yellow police tape surrounding the small, blue-and-white house at 992 Hatch Ave, a police ar parked in front and the St. Paul forensics services van in the alleyway.

According to police, officers were called to the home at 7:30 a.m. Friday, and a person who reportedly called 911 said a person was dead inside the home.

The man was found unconscious and not breathing.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

St. Paul police sergeant Mike Ernster said investigators don't believe that it was a random crime.

Police also shot and killed a "large aggressive dog" inside the home that bit an officer.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's working to determine how the man was killed.

It’s not known what led to the man’s death, with investigators canvassing the area for physical evidence that could help determine what happened.

There are no arrests.
