St. Peter police say escaped sex offender in custody

A sex offender who escaped from the Minnesota treatment center in St. Peter early this morning is now in custody

Police say 45-year-old Beau-Jacob Edward Zimmer was picked up ar 7:00 a.m. Friday, about six hours after he reportedly left the facility.

St. Peter police posted on social media that a citizen spotted Zimmer and notifed law enforcement.

Authorities were notified about the escape from the Minnesota Sex Offender Program around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

There is no information on how Zimmer was able to get away from the treatment center.

Zimmer's described as a white male, standing 6 feet tall weighing 188 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt, gray pants, black tennis shoes with bright yellow accents, and a black backpack on a black Specialized-brand bicycle with an unknown direction of travel.
