Minnesota has a new state seal.
The State Emblems Redesign Commission has eliminated four other finalists and has chosen one version of the seal and will move ahead with it.
The seal is blue and bronze, with an image of a loon taking flight from a lake.
The image was not only the commission's top pick, but also the public's, with more than 3,000 comments submitted in support.
Revisions to the design and possibly the wording on it are expected before a final version is agreed upon.
The new state flag design is still being considered. The commission must choose from six finalists before submitting it's recommendation to the Legislature on January 1.
