The Lift Bridge in Stillwater closed on Friday because of flooding concerns as the St. Croix River continues to rise.

Minnesota Department of Transportation crews set up barricades on both the Minnesota and Wisconsin sides of the bridge to weigh it down, preventing the bridge from moving due to floodwaters.

The St. Croix River is currently at 83 feet and with more rain expected, it could potentially rise another five feet over the next few days.

Access to the Riverway is closed off to pedestrians and bicyclists as well because of high water.

The bridge will reopen once it's deemed safe.
