Authorities are piecing together evidence following an officer-involved shooting in St. Paul's midway area.
It all began at 7:45 p.m. Monday when police received a call of shots fired in the area of the 400 block of Pierce Street.
That's in the neighborhood west of Allianz Field.
Officers encountered a man with a handgun, who at first pointed the gun at his own head.
After resisting commands to drop the weapon, he aimed the gun at officers, who then fired at the suspect.
The man was hit by the gunfire, and was taken to Regions Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
None of the officers involved was hurt, and they were all wearing activated body cameras.
As is standard for officer-involved shootings, the Minnesota B-C-A is leading the investigation.
Light rail service in the area of Lexington and Snelling was suspended until later Tuesday, with bus service offered to passengers.
