Target Field concession workers vote to authorize a strike.

Roughly 500 employees represented by UNITE HERE Local 17 approved the move with 81% support, citing a need for a contract that reflects the high revenue they help generate during Twins games.

“This stadium brings in an incredible amount of money for the Twins each game day and it’s time that we the people who make the stadium work see some of this. My co-workers and I are ready to strike for what we deserve,” explained Ariel, a concessions worker at Target Field.

Union leadership is now calling on the Twins organization to push Delaware North toward a fair settlement.

“The Twins Organization needs to hold their concessionaire Delaware North Company accountable and tell them to settle a fair contract or they will face a strike,” added Sheigh Freeberg, Secretary Treasurer UNITE HERE Local 17.

With the vote finalized, the union committee has the power to officially launch a walkout at any moment.

UNITE HERE Local 17 represents more than 6,000 workers in hotels, restaurants, sports complexes, convention centers, and the airport in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and surrounding suburbs.

The Twins did provide a statement through Delaware North, their concessions provider:

"Delaware North values its team members and the exceptional service they provide to guests at Target Field. Earlier this year, we offered several bargaining dates to UNITE HERE Local 17, and the union made itself available in March for an initial bargaining session. With only one bargaining session held to date, we are concerned that the recent strike authorization vote does not accurately reflect the current status of negotiations and may create confusion for our team members. We remain committed to bargaining in good faith and will continue negotiating with the union this month. In the event of any job action, we have contingency plans in place to maintain the guest or fan experience at Target Field. We appreciate our team members’ patience as the bargaining process continues."
