Monday begins the first core week of the year for Minneapolis-based Target.
It runs through Thursday, and is the first of five one-week periods during 2025 when Target employees must work at their headquarters on Nicollet Mall or the company's north campus in Brooklyn Park.
That means a major influx of workers, especially in downtown Minneapolis, where service industry businesses and retailers have struggled since the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Minneapolis Downtown Council, Target has more than seven-thousand employees working at their headquarters.
Target officials say the other core weeks for 2025 are May 19-23, July 28 to Aug. 1, Sep. 8-12 and Nov. 17-21.
These five core weeks are exceptions to the "flex your day" approach for Target's white-collar workforce.
During last September's core week, Target held its Target Together fall sales meeting and brought thousands of red-shirted workers to Minneapolis, bumping traffic at various local businesses.
This week's gathering will be smaller than that event: Target's fall meeting includes 2,000 store managers from around the country in addition to headquarters workers.
