The high winds are causing power problems across Minnesota Wednesday afternoon.
Xcel Energy says several thousand customers in the metro area have lost power at different points throughout the afternoon. John Marshall is Director of Community Relations for Xcel Energy, and he says they were prepared for the storm and the outages.
"A lot of them are really concentrated in the metro right now," says Marshall. "A few hundred employees from Xcel Energy mobilized, ready for the storm, we're staffed up and going to be working through the night to get power restored as quickly and safely as possible."
Marshall told WCCO if you experience an outage, call 800-895-1999 or report it on their website. You can also or text "out" to 98936 to report an outage, or "state" to 98936 to check the status of an outage.
