In addition to destroyed homes and downed trees, a tornado has left community spirit in it's wake in a small Southern Minnesota town.
Taopi is in Mower County near the Iowa border, and it took a direct-hit from an EF-2 tornado Tuesday night.
"We have a community tent where we are feeding people," said Amy Lammey, Emergency Manager for Mower County. "It's an amazing little town with a lot of heart and a lot of spirit."
10 of the 24 homes in the city were destroyed, and others suffering major damage. The people who live in those homes are staying in a hotel or with friends and family. The Red Cross is also on site helping those in need.
Lammey says once they assess the value of the damages sustained, they will reach out to the state for assistance.
