A man and a woman are hospitalized with gunshot wounds following a shooting during a funeral luncheon Saturday in north Minneapolis.
About 100 people were gathered in the community room of Cora McCorvey Health and Wellness Center in the Sumner-Glenwood neighborhood when the incident happened.
Police say a man entered the building, an argument started, and shots rang out.
"The shooting is shocking not only to the individual conscious but to the community as a whole," said the MPD's Garrett Parton. "The lack of appreciation that is shown for the sanctity of life in this situation leaves many of us aching for understanding. This is very wrong."
The two who were shot remain hospitalized in critical condition.
The man who fired the gun reportedly left the scene before police arrived.
"The Minneapolis police along with all responders, we care, and we're going to work to determine who's responsible for this and hold them accountable in a way that's acceptable, not through gun violence," Parten said.
