The US Postal Service is removing four blue mailboxes adjacent to the state capitol building in St. Paul for security reasons.
The decision comes as the FBI reports credible threats of violent activity at the capitol over the next several days, leading up to Wednesday’s inauguration of president-elect Joe Biden in Washington.
The mailboxes being removed are located at:
· 20 12th St W, St. Paul, MN 55101
· 395 John Ireland Blvd, St. Paul, MN 55101
· 95 University Ave W, St. Paul, MN 55101
· 175 Aurora Ave, St. Paul, MN 55103
Officials say the temporary removal of the four collection boxes is to protect postal property, employees, and the public.
It’s not known when the boxes will be returned, but USPS officials say it’ll happen when it’s safe to do so.
