U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D) won a fourth term, defeating Republican candidate Royce White on Tuesday. The day after, appearing on the WCCO Morning News with Vineeta Sawkar, Klobuchar says people now need to focus on unity with Donald Trump returning to the White House.
"Even though this election didn't turn out like I wanted it, and I am concerned about a number of things including who will be cabinet members in a new Trump White House," Klobuchar says. "But I am not going to be dwelling on that today because I'm going to be focused on the fact that we need to bring this country together."
Klobuchar says her campaign was successful because she reached out to all Minnesotans during a campaign that took her to all 87 Minnesota counties. She says that working toward unity is really important right now.
"People now that this is done, have got to look at each other, including at the Thanksgiving table, and even if they don't agree with each other, they've got to try to find a way to bridge this river of our divides right now," Klobuchar tells WCCO.
Klobuchar won re-election by a comfortable margin over Republican candidate Royce White.
