The Minnesota State High School League is prepared to meet Thursday and discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic could impact the winter sports season.
So far, the MSHSL has not ruled on limiting or holding back the winter sports season, but that could change due to state health and CDC guidelines on physical distancing, indoor gatherings, and mask wearing.
Last month, high school football and volleyball were given the go-ahead to hold a fall season. Originally both sports had been pushed to the spring, but the league voted to allow shortened seasons.
High school volleyball will play 14 competitions over an 11 week span. Football players will take part in a six-game regular season.
What hasn't been decided by the MSHSL is how they will handle fall postseason play and the transition into winter sports.
The MSHSL meeting gets underway at 9 a.m.
