A Twin Cities woman is suing Allina Health after she says doctors removed her kidney instead of her spleen.
Wendy Rappaport of Plymouth, Minnesota is alleging her healthy left kidney was mistakenly removed instead of her spleen during a March 2022 surgery.
The lawsuit claims a post-operative scan confirmed the error, contrary to the surgeon's notes.
Rappaport, who did not consent to the kidney removal, now requires dialysis.
Allina Health says it plans to fight the suit, stating that the filings "don't accurately reflect the full picture."
Rappaport is seeking a minimum of $50,000 in the case.
