Minneapolis Public Schools has announced its plans to move 15 of its schools to a distance learning model due to forecasted high temperatures throughout the next week.

Starting on June 8 the district will move Anthony, Anwatin, Bryn Mawr, Field, Heritage, Hiawatha, Kenny, Kenwood, Lake Harriet Upper, Northrop, Olson, Pratt, Roosevelt, Sheridan, and Windom to a distance learning model until June 10 because they are currently without working air conditioners.

The district announced that air-conditioned schools will remain open in whatever school model they are currently in. Minneapolis Kids programs that are held in non-air-conditioned schools will be closed but if students like they can participate at other locations — transportation is not provided.

The last day of the school year is June 11 and the district plans to be open on that day for in-person learning.
