A new resolution calling for President Joe Biden to be impeached was introduced Tuesday in the U.S. House of Representatives by four Republican lawmakers.

U.S. Rep. Bob Gibbs of Ohio sponsored the bill, along with U.S.
Rep. Brian Babin of Texas, U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona and U.S. Rep. Randy K. Webner of Texas. It was referred to the House Committee of the Judiciary.

Although the text of the legislation was not available on the official congressional website as of Wednesday morning, a copy of the resolution was included in a Washington Examiner report. According to the resolution, the sponsors believe Biden should be impeached for “high crimes and misdemeanors” laid out in three articles.

First, the resolution claims that Biden violated his oath of office by failing to “secure the Southern border” when he decided to halt construction of a border wall project started by former President Donald Trump.
It also criticizes other policy decisions related to the border.

In the second article, the resolution claims that Biden violated his responsibilities by extending a moratorium on evictions related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Lastly, the third article argues that Biden “has failed to act responsibly as Commander in Chief with regard to withdrawal of United States forces from Afghanistan,” referring to the removal of troops from that country last month after nearly two decades of occupation.

Gibbs tweeted Wednesday that “President Biden must be held accountable for clearly unconstitutional actions, including willfully violating the separation of powers in attempting to extend a federal eviction moratorium.”

Gibbs also called for Biden to be impeached in an Aug. 6 press release.

Republican U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia introduced a separate resolution to impeach Biden in January, followed by more attempts.

According to a summary of the January legislation, which was referred to the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties on March 5, Greene accuses Biden of abusing power when he was vice president under former President Barack Obama. She claimed he enabled bribery by allowing his son, Hunter Biden, to influence domestic policy.

Greene made comments about impeaching Biden Monday.

There have been other attempts this year to impeach Biden by Greene and others, as well as Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas. During Trump’s term, he became the first president to be impeached twice when similar resolutions were passed in congress. Neither impeachment removed him from office.
