January 20th will be a big day for Joe Biden, but Biden's dog Major will get a moment in the spotlight of his own just a few days prior.
Major, a German Shepard who was adopted from the Delaware Humane Association (DHA) in November of 2018, will be getting his very own "Indoguration," hosted on January 17 at 3 pm ET, the DHA's Facebook announced.
The event is hosted by the Delaware Humane Association in an effort to raise some money for other dogs like major who have come into a rescue situation and are seeking out their forever homes.
The animal shelter also wants to celebrate the fact that Major will be the first shelter dog to live in the White House as a First Dog.
Cory Topel, a marketing manager at DHA, told CBS News that she remembers Major as a "sweetheart."
"Having played a part in Major Biden's story is an honor. This is what we strive for when animals come into our care: to help them find their happy ending," Topel continued.
The "Indoguration" will be hosted over Zoom to account for social distancing precautions being taken.
In a post about the event on Facebook, DHA described the event as "the world's largest virtual party for dogs in honor of Major Biden's Indoguration!"
The event will be hosted by the Today Show's Jill Martin and attended by special guest Sir Darius Brown, who is a 14-year-old entrepreneur and animal advocate.
Ahead of the event, participants will be able to nominate their own dogs to be a part of Major's Cabinet as the "Secretary of Rescue Dogs." Brown will choose the winner of this competition.
DHA is asking for donations of $10 or more to join the event. All proceeds will benefit the shelter.
