The handcuffs used to arrest the suspect in the second assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump, Ryan Wesley Routh, were given to the GOP nominee by Marin County Sheriff deputies this week.

“I’m still here,” Trump said while meeting with the officers.

Trump thanked law enforcement for their actions in stopping and arresting the would-be assassin on Sunday, while he met with the officers at Mar-Lago on Wednesday, WPTV reported.

“That’s good-looking stuff right there,” Trump said as he entered the meeting with the officers. “That’s good-looking human beings.”

Sheriff William Snyder and Chief Deputy John Budensiek were among the officers who attended the event on Wednesday.

In an offering to the former president, the deputies reportedly gifted him the handcuffs used to arrest Routh, which they had all signed, WPTV reported.

Routh has since been charged with two felony gun charges. During a press conference on Tuesday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that he would most likely face state charges as well.

As for the officers, Snyder shared with WPTV that he was “proud” of his officers for their response to the threat and in apprehending the suspect.

“I talked to the [former] president today, and he told me specifically that he can rest easier knowing that someone who was about to kill him or try to kill him was in custody,’ Snyder said. “To me, that’s as rewarding as anything I’ve ever done.”
