Following the path of destruction caused by Hurricane Ida, looters have ravaged some local stores, gas stations, and ATMs, taking advantage of the chaos in pockets of Louisiana.
The mayor, however, said reports of widespread looting are incorrect.
In one instance that's undeniable, drone footage released online shows the moment that looters noticed they had been caught attempting to break into an ATM at a burned-down St. Claude market.
The market had caught on fire and burned down in the early hours of the day as the New Orleans Fire Department responded to a fire alarm early Monday morning.
A video released by WDSU showed a Circle K in New Orleans east with a broken window as police officers assessed the damage looking into what was possibly stolen.
New Orleans police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson said police had received numerous reports of looting, WDSU reported.
Others have taken to social media, recording numerous stores across the state that have been looted.

Ferguson went on to say that arrests have been made and warrants obtained as they work to identify others involved in possible crimes. Looting in the state is a felony charge, and he also said that police would be enforcing it.
