A 26-year-old man was charged Tuesday in the shooting death of a pregnant St. Paul woman and her two teenaged children, with disturbing details of the incident revealed in court documents.
According to the charges filed by the Ramsey County attorney's office, TeKeith Jones is charged with three counts of second-degree murder.
The charges detail what happened when police arrived at the fourplex on the 700 block of Jesse Street after receiving a 911 call saying that there was "blood everywhere" inside the structure.
Officers found both the woman and her daughter dead, both with multiple gunshot wounds.
The woman's 11-year-old son was clinging to life, and when he was asked who had fired the shots, he reportedly answered "Keith."
The boy died several hours later at a hospital.
The charges indicate the woman was shot twice, the boy five times, and the girl 10 times.
The document shows Jones gave inconsistent answers on why he killed the three, but did reportedly tell investigators that he was trying to save them.
Ramsey County attorney John Choi released a statement:
"My heart sinks to know that a mother and her two children were taken from us in such a senseless and violent way. We will do everything in our power to bring justice to the victims and our community in this case."
Authorities say Jones fired multiple shots, killing D'Zondra Wallace and her teenaged daughter, and fatally wounding the woman's son on Saturday afternoon.
Family members saying Wallace had recently broken up with Jones and he was jealous.
It happened an hour after police had performed a welfare check on the home and Wallace told officers she was ok.
Jones has a criminal past and served more than six years in a Texas prison for aggravated robbery.
He is jailed on $5 million bail.
