The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has taken over the investigation of a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened during a traffic stop early Saturday in Meeker County.
Officials with the Meeker County sheriff's department say there was an exchange of gunfire between Eden Valley Police officers and a man who led them on a ten-mile chase on highway 55, running his car into a ditch.
The man was shot, and life-saving efforts at the scene were unsuccessful.
Eden Valley police officers do not wear body cameras but a squad car camera was operating during the incident, which happened around 2:00 a.m. Saturday.
No one else was hurt.
Names are not released.
Police say the chase happened after the driver did not pull over for an unspecified traffic violation.
