Minnesota Department of Health officials are awaiting guidance from the federal government after President Biden announced 300 million coronavirus vaccine doses will be available by July.
Until that happens, state Infectious Disease Director Kris Ehresmann says they’re continue on with the current groups: 65-plus, long term care residents and staff, along with healthcare workers, and teachers.
“People need to remember that we are working our way through these populations,” she said. “They are very large populations.”
Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm says they’re looking at data, focused on immunizing the most vulnerable and those disproportionately affected by the virus.
Minnesota’s latest seven-day positivity rate is under 4%, the lowest since June 27th.
