Embattled State DFL Representative John Thompson is pushing back on reports that he apologized to the St. Paul Police Sgt. who he accused of racially profiling him during a traffic stop earlier this month.
In an interview with the Star Tribune on Sunday, Thompson calls the conversation between the two men "private," and that "nobody knows what was said except both of them.
Thompson's troubles started with that traffic stop on July fourth, which led to a cascade of other revelations involving his license, residency and prior allegations of domestic abuse.
Last week, he was convicted of a misdemeanor obstruction charge related to a disturbance in 2019.
