We've all heard of the pandemic puppy boom. Yes, they're cute and loveable. But, like any toddler-aged member of our families, they can be unruly and try our patience as they learn to navigate their new world. Cue the dog trainer!
Simply learning to sit or not knock over grandma or the toddler next door can be a challenge. Not to mention getting control of that circus dog on the leash or saving the leg on the new couch... all things that require a little training for both dog and owner. Annette Scribner, co-founder of The Canine Coach training school, says the demand for obedience classes is through the roof.
"We have been running as fast as we can to help clients since last April. We've added group classes online. We've added more classes in-person. Our boot camp has been out of control, crazy. People are looking for training."
Scribner says they're hiring right now to keep up with the demand.
"People are calling and wanting in-home training because behavior problems are cropping up now. Those cute little puppies are now chewing EVERYTHING or biting on the kids and they need help," said Scribner.
Right now, in-person classes may only be attended by one person due to COVID-19 restrictions. Scribner says she looks forward to the pandemic's end so they can do more in-person teaching, and get the whole family involved.
