The Minnesota Timberwolves have several new options this year, both on the court and at the concession stands, as the Timberwolves released their new food selections for the upcoming season.

Among the options included are several new meat-free choices for fans who are vegetarian or vegan, and Chef David Fhima joined with News Talk 830 WCCO's Vineeta Sawkar and Henry Lake to talk about it.

The Timberwolves are partnering with Wicked Kitchen, which only creates plant-based options for their new food, and Fhima said it was a "natural" fit.

"To be able to have a plant-based concession stand where people have the choice to go have a burger or a plant-based item, and it is so good," Fhima said.

Fhima shared that working with the company last year was a learning experience, as preconceived notions about meat-free diets were thrown out the window.

"People, when they come to the arena, they almost subconsciously have an arena craving," Fhim said. "They want a hot dog. They want popcorn. So we said okay, great, let's now elevate and make it with the best."

But the new options won't just be plant-based, as the Wolves are looking to make an upgrade to all of their concessions this year, matching the play expected on the court.

New options include Waygu burger sliders, burrito bowls, sausage cheddar wursts, Nashville hot chicken sliders, and more.

The new food will be available when the Timberwolves start their season at Target Center on Oct. 19 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
