Allen: Bills can be a dangerous team playing free, loose

Bills quarterback Josh Allen addressed the media following Buffalo's 35-10 win over the 49ers on Sunday

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills clinched their fifth-straight AFC East title on Sunday night in the snow at Highmark Stadium against the San Francisco 49ers.

Despite the winter weather making conditions slick on the turf, it did not stop the Bills offense, as they were able to put up over 30 points for a sixth-straight game in a 35-10 win.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen now has the most total touchdowns in franchise history, surpassing Hall-of-Famer Jim Kelly with a second quarter touchdown pass to wide receiver Mack Hollins.

Allen continued to make history in his performance against the 49ers, accounting for a passing rushing and receiving touchdown in the win, becoming the first quarterback to accomplish that feat in league history. He also became the fourth quarterback ever to register a receiving touchdown on a pass that he threw.

With the win, the Bills became the first team to clinch a division title this early in the season since the Indianapolis Colts did so in 2009. Allen feels this division title is different than in previous seasons.

"The cool thing about it we get to go out there, and we get to play free," said Allen following the victory on "Sunday Night Football" in Orchard Park. "There's really no repercussions for what we're doing, but at the same time we're chasing the 1-seed."

Allen finished the night going 13-of-17 for 148 yards and two touchdowns in the air. One of the biggest turning points of the game was the 97-yard drive at the end of the first half to give Buffalo a 21-3 lead. Allen felt it was an opportunity at good situational football, knowing the 49ers would get the ball to start the second half.

Even with a fifth-straight AFC East title now wrapped up, Allen still feels there is more that the team can learn and grow from moving forward.

"The only thing that this does is guarantees a spot in the playoffs," Allen said. "Still a lot to learn from and grow from throughout the season. We've got to play five more games, and next week, we're going across the country. So we've got to be ready for that."

The Bills now head on the road to Los Angeles taking on the Rams at SoFi Stadium with a 4:25 p.m. EST kickoff on the home of the Buffalo Bills WGR Sports Radio 550.
