Landover, Md. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills took care of business on Sunday afternoon on the road, blowing out the Washington Commanders with a 37-3 win at FedEx Field.
Sunday's win in Landover, Maryland was highlighted by a stout performance from the Bills defense, where the unit made life difficult for Commanders quarterback Sam Howell all game long. Buffalo ended the game sacking the second-year quarterback nine times, forcing five turnovers (four interceptions and a fumble) and even recorded a pick-six in the fourth quarter.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen was effective on offense once again with 218 yards passing on 20-of-32 passing for a touchdown and a pick. He also accounted for 46 yards on the ground and one touchdown.
Looking back Sunday's victory in Washington, Allen felt the offense was able to play a bit more relaxed thanks to the defense giving Buffalo a number of short-field drives.
"Every time we touch the ball, we want to score. But it makes it that much easier when you're not trying to force things as much, when you know you have a defense you can rely on," said Allen following Buffalo's win.
Allen was glad to see the game linebacker Terrel Bernard had at middle linebacker. In his third game as the starting middle linebacker this season, the 2022 third-round pick led the Bills with seven total tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery.
The Bills quarterback feels the second-year linebacker is only going to continue to get better with more reps as the season goes along.
"The vibe and confidence that he gives off is infectious to that defense," Allen said. "He's been flying around, making plays. It's awesome to see."
