Allen: Sunday's win over Titans 'speaks a lot to the guys in the locker room'

Bills quarterback Josh Allen addressed the media following Buffalo's 34-10 victory at Highmark Stadium

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - While it was a rough start for the Buffalo Bills in the first half, they were able to rebound and pull out a massive 34-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at Highmark Stadium.

After falling behind 10-0 in the second quarter, the Bills finally got on the board before halftime on a James Cook 11-yard touchdown rush. That helped kick start Buffalo's turnaround not just offensively, but also on the defensive side of the football.

After failing to have an answer in the early goings against the Titans offense, led by quarterback Mason Rudolph, the Bills defense stood strong and shut down Tennessee for the rest of the game. Buffalo's defensive effort was capped off with an interception by safety Damar Hamlin late in the fourth quarter to squash any last hopes the Titans had.

Offensively, the Bills managed to extend drives and keep the Titans defense second guessing throughout the third and fourth quarters.

In his first game wearing a Bills uniform, Amari Cooper capped off the opening drive of the third quarter with not just his first catch, but also his first touchdown that eventually become the game-winning score from 12 yards out.

In the fourth quarter, the Bills were able to put the game to rest with running backs Ty Johnson and Ray Davis each finding the end zone. Johnson was able to get in with a four-yard touchdown pass from Josh Allen, while Davis scampered in from 16 yards out.

As for Allen, he managed to take a rough start to the game and finish the day by completing 21-of-33 pass attempts for 323 yards and two touchdowns.

Allen understood the offensive struggles in the first half, but credits his team for the second half adjustments.

"Not ideal to start the way we did. Our defense kept us in it long enough where we figured it out," said Allen during his postgame comments with the media. "I think first and second down efficiency was just really poor, and something I've got to clean up, make better decisions early on, getting us in the right place. I do love and appreciate our guys, and how we came out in that second half."

Allen credited his teammates multiple times after the win for their effort, especially Cooper after being acquired from the Cleveland Browns just this past Tuesday.

"To win the way we did speaks a lot to the guys in the locker room," Allen said.

Allen also notes that preparing Cooper for his first game with the Bills on a short week was crucial for their success, and credits his coaching staff for getting their new weapon as ready as possible.

"DJ Mingus, wide receiver assistant coach, putting in a lot of work with him, coach[Adam] Henry, guys in the building that put a lot of effort into getting him ready to go. That's huge to have him out there," Allen said.
