Pittsford, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills returned to St. John Fisher University on Wednesday, as the team opened training camp in preparation for the 2023 regular season in Rochester.

Wednesday's return to training camp also brought about the return of wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who was in attendance for Buffalo's mandatory minicamp last month, but was excused for the first practice and didn't speak the following day.

Diggs did speak with the assembled media on Wednesday and said what happened this offseason is "water under the bridge," and that he's ready and focused for the upcoming season of football in Western New York.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane has zero problem with the emotion he has shown not just at mandatory minicamp, but also during the playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2022 AFC Divisional Round.

"'Stef' just wants to win. Nothing wrong with that," said Beane in his comments during his meeting with the media at training camp on Wednesday, "We all do it in different ways. 'Stef' is in a good spot, the offseason is the offseason, and we're all going separate ways, especially players. That last game ends, you don’t get to go back and review the film with everyone and see what happened... it's tough."

Meanwhile, edge rusher Von Miller is still recovering from surgery after suffering a partially torn ACL this past season on Thanksgiving against the Detroit Lions. While Beane says Miller didn't want to start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, it was the right decision heading into training camp.

"We wanna make sure he’s ready for the long haul," Beane said. 'We don’t wanna rush him too much, but he’s in a great head space."

It was announced earlier this week that running back Nyhiem Hines will miss the entire 2023 season following a freak jet ski accident left him with a significant knee injury. It was some unfortunate news for Beane when he had heard that Hines was going to be unavailable for the entirety of the season.

"We were really excited to use him in the offense. It’s not like I can go out and say, 'Hey, here’s another Hines,'" Beane said. 'He’s a dynamic player. ... We'll hopefully get him rehabbed here, and hopefully '24 is the best to come for him."
