The Buffalo Bills are adding a new face to their broadcast team.
The team announced Tuesday that NFL Network’s Cynthia Frelund will work as a sideline reporter during their preseason TV telecasts. In addition, she’ll host a digital segment during the season that covers analytics and statistics surrounding the team.
"This is a really fun team, everything from the quarterbacks to the defense,” she said via the Bills’ official website. “It's a great story from top to bottom. Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane are top notch. It's just a really well run organization. I'm really happy to be a part of something where it's the perfect blend of a family setting but also a Super Bowl potential type of team.”
Frelund’s insights should augment preseason broadcasts, supplying viewers with statistical-based analysis they wouldn’t find elsewhere. That doesn’t mean the analytics are always right, of course. But it’s worthwhile to hear that argument presented.
It also helps that Frelund is bullish on Buffalo’s chances this season. She extolled the organization’s offseason during a recent interview on CBS Sports Radio’s “After Hours with Amy Lawrence.”
“This is a super exciting team,” Frelund said. “They addressed needs in free agency, meaning they got themselves in a position where they were able to add youth along their defensive front. They drafted two pass rushers, and that's going to make a big difference, because now you're adding youth to veterans and you have that nice mix of experience but fresh legs. I'm excited for that.”
NFL Network will air all of the Bills’ preseason games live this summer. Buffalo begins its slate against the Detroit Lions on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
The game can also be heard on WGR Sports Radio 550 with John Murphy, Eric Wood and Sal Capaccio on the call.
