Bills lose three potential practice squad players to waivers

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - As teams around the National Football League announced final cuts on Tuesday to get to 53 players on their active rosters, a number of players hit the waiver wire available for free acquisition.

For the Buffalo Bills, they announced 27 cuts to get their roster to 53, and ended up losing three players via waivers on Wednesday.

According to the NFL's waiver wire, the Bills lost safety Zayne Anderson to the Green Bay Packers, while also losing both offensive lineman Nick Broeker and cornerback Alex Austin to the Houston Texans.

Anderson was signed by the Bills to a two-year contract shortly after the Super Bowl this offseason. The 26-year-old was part of the the Kansas City Chiefs' practice squad throughout the 2022 season.

As for Broeker and Austin, both players were seventh-round draft picks of the Bills in the 2023 NFL Draft. Broeker was selected first with the 230th overall pick, followed by Austin with the 252nd overall selection.

Meanwhile, the Bills made no waiver claims on the wire.

It is expected for the Bills to announce their practice squad at some point on Wednesday.
