McDermott: The Bills played a 'Relentless style of defense' in dominant 30-10 victory over the Jets

Bills head coach Sean McDermott addressed the media following his team's 30-10 blowout victory over division rival, New York Jets.

East Rutherford, NJ. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - For the fourth time out of the last five meetings, the Bills defeated the Jets, this time by a dominant 30-10 score in week 2.

Sunday's 20-point victory over New York kickstarted the Bills to a 2-0 record in back-to-back seasons.

It was the Bills that took an early lead in this contest, leading 20-3 at halftime, and they never looked back. The Bills were very methodical on offense with a smash-mouth style, as running back James Cook tallied 132 yards and 2 touchdowns on 21 carries.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen did leave the game under his own power with a nose injury, and it all circumstances, they did not need an air-it-out styled offense from Allen and company. Allen finished the day completing 14 passes on 25 attempts for 148 yards.

The defensive performance from the Bills was second to none, holding the Jets to 154 total yards on the day.

Bills Head Coach, Sean McDermott, heavily credited the defense and defensive coaching staff after Sunday's blowout victory, and remains hopeful that his defense can continue this pace in the following weeks.

"It was good to see them really disciplined, playing hard, playing relentless style of defense, taking the ball away and being able to close the game out", McDermott told the media.

"Coaches, led by Bobby (Babich), did a great job putting a good plan together. Players executed. They spent time like they did last week, don't get me wrong, but there was real they were really intentional this week about the details and making sure they understood where they were supposed to be and when they were supposed to be there", McDermott said during the postgame press conference.
