Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills announced on Tuesday they have released veteran running back Leonard Fournette from the team's practice squad, as confirmed by head coach Sean McDermott.

Fournette was signed by the Bills as a free agent on Oct. 31, and was able to make his debut with the Bills in a Week 16 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers. Fournette also saw action in Buffalo's Week 18 showdown against the Miami Dolphins that helped the Bills capture the AFC East division title.

In his two games played with the Bills, Fournette totaled 12 rushing attempts for 40 yards.

The 28-year-old was originally drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the fourth overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. He then spent three seasons with the Buccaneers spanning from 2020-22, winning Super Bowl LV in his first year in Tampa Bay.
