Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills announced Thursday they have signed running back Ian Wheeler to the active roster.
Wheeler most recently played for the Louisville Kings of the United Football League, where his team won the United Bowl and he was named Most Valuable Player of the game, rushing for 81 yards on 10 carries and scoring the go-ahead touchdown against the D.C. Defenders.
Wheeler originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Howard with the Chicago Bears in 2024, but spent his rookie season on Injured Reserve. He spent time on the Saints' practice squad last season.

A native of Houston, Texas, the 5-foot-10, 205-pound Wheeler played against the Bills in a preseason game in 2024 and scored two rushing touchdowns in the Bears' 33–6 victory.
Wheeler not only ran for 1,154 yards over five seasons at Howard, but also recorded 21 tackles on defense.
Last week, the Bills waived undrafted free agent running back Desmond Reid with an injury designation.
