’Twas the night before New Years and although the area
We had a major blizzard, that couldn’t be scarier

The Bills are on the verge of claiming the one seed
Wins over the Bengals, then Patriots, is all that they need

The Sabres started hot, were on a blistering pace
Then lost eight in a row, now back in the playoff race.

After signing a contract extension, Tage had a bit of a slow start
But look at him go now…..could he even win the Hart?

Watching this guy every night, fans must think they’ve won the lotto
It’s amazing to see his turnaround that came under Don Granato

GM Kevyn Adams has built a really good young core
Cozens, Peterka, Quinn, all of these guys can score.

When it comes to the future in goal we really can’t yet tell
But it looks pretty bright with youngster Devon Levi, and the one we call U.P.L.

On the blue line they’re set, they won’t have to scour
For the next decade we’ll be watching Dahlin, Samuelsson, and Power

While we look ahead and get excited about all that talent and youth
We’ll play back and remember so many great calls from R.J. in the booth

On the college gridiron, the UB Bulls went on a roll
They won their first five MAC games, then won the Camellia Bowl

No doubt you could say it was another solid season
'Hey, you in the transfer portal!…come to UB…Coach Mo is a great reason!'

A local high school team went on one heck of a ride
Bennett took home the state title, THAT’S Buffalo City School pride!

Back to the Bills, they’ve made our weekends so much fun
Now they’re in prime position to go on a long playoff run

After a heartbreaking finish in January in Kansas City
Daboll and Schoen left for the Giants, and things weren’t looking pretty

But Ken Dorsey took over and the O [offensive] numbers are just as good
After 16 weeks, second in yards and 4th in points is where they stood

Some still wonder how since it doesn’t seem to have that same look
For one, a more balanced running game, with Singletary and James Cook

To get over the hump on defense they needed a pass rushing pillar
So Beane went out and signed the great Von Miller

The defense took some big blows when they lost him and Micah Hyde
But still second in points allowed, McDermott and Frazier won’t let them slide

A big reason for that is the great play of Jordan Poyer
And of course Matt Milano, who’s become an offensive destroyer

Oh, don’t worry, I didn’t forget about their QB superstar
Josh Allen is a name everyone knows, both near and far

If he can get us a couple more wins, then a few more to start ’23
It won’t matter who actually wins it, he’ll be the real MVP

Now all that’s left is to find a way to seal it
A Lombardi is so close, all of Buffalo can feel it

As you reflect on ’22 and get set for a brand new year
Smile, Buffalo fans, because ’23 will bring the greatest of cheer
