Despite strong second-half performance in win over Titans, McDermott knows there's 'a lot to clean up'

Bills head coach Sean McDermott addressed the media following his team's 34-10 victory over the Titans

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Despite coming off a short week once again, the Buffalo Bills found themselves in the win column for a second-straight week after defeating the Tennessee Titans, 34-10, on Sunday afternoon at Highmark Stadium.

The Bills struggled mightily in the first half, especially on the offensive side of the football. Through the first 30 minutes of action, Bills quarterback Josh Allen only completed 4-of-11 pass attempts for 65 yards, as Buffalo trailed 10-7 at the half.

It started with the opening drive of the game after Buffalo elected to receive the opening kickoff with the hope of getting off to a hot start. The Bills failed to make an early statement, as Allen and the offense went three-and-out on their first three possessions, and four of their first five possessions.

"Some of those were self-inflicted. Had a drop, had a penalty, can't remember on the next drive what happened, but just not good enough. Not what you want to do in that situation," said McDermott during his postgame press conference with the media on Sunday.

After making some adjustments at halftime on both sides of the football, McDermott and the Bills finally got into a rhythm, outscoring the Titans, 27-0, in the second half. It was the exclamation point on a very solid home victory for the Bills to improve to 5-2 on the 2024 season.

"The offense was able to get into a rhythm," McDermott said. "In the second half, primarily by winning the line of scrimmage, and that sets up everything else. I thought the second half, we did a better job on both sides of the ball, up front, winning the line of scrimmage. And again, that sets up everything we're trying to do."

McDermott does understand they need to play complementary football for the full 60 minutes, but is excited about back-to-back victories on a short week.

"Good to do it at home, in front of our fans. A lot to clean up. It's hard to win in the National Football League, so we're going to get back to work," he said.
