After weeks of uncertainty, rumors, reports, and all that comes with a free agent frenzy, J.J. Watt has come to a decision on where he'll play next - Arizona.

The veteran defensive end, who was released by the Houston Texans in February, agreed to a two-year, $31 million deal with the Arizona Cardinals on Monday, with $23 million guaranteed.

The Buffalo Bills were one of a few teams that were reported to be a top landing spot or desired destination for Watt, along with the Green Bay Packers, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans. Just hours before Watt and ESPN's Adam Schefter announced the signing Monday morning, rumors began circulating that Watt was down to three final teams, the Bills, Packers and Browns, after a screenshot from a Peloton account believed to be Watt's surfaced, with those three clubs being mentioned, along with "SB56."

The account was quickly debunked, and so were the rumors about Watt signing with any of those three teams, as he tweeted out a picture of him in a Cardinals shirt shortly after.

Watt will join his former Texans teammate, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, in Arizona. Hopkins was traded to the Cardinals in March of 2020 after playing in Houston for seven seasons.

In his 10 seasons with the Texans, Watt won NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times, was a five-time First-Team All-Pro, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, and led the league in sacks twice (2012, 2015).
