Josh Allen on throwing first pitch for Blue Jays: 'Probably gonna overthrow it in the stands'

Allen will throw out the first pitch at Sahlen Field on Thursday

Josh Allen isn't a one-trick pony on the football field — he's one of the best dual threat quarterbacks in the game, with the ability to launch a 60-yard pass and then scramble for 30 yards on the next play — and he sure as heck isn't one off it, either.

In a 2017 story from ESPN's Mark Schlabach about why Allen had some trouble finding a college scholarship, it was noted that Allen played "nearly every sport, including baseball, basketball, football, golf, gymnastics, karate and swimming." He excelled in many of them, leading his high school basketball team in scoring and, more importantly for the sake of this article, touching 90 miles-per-hour with his fastball.

So it shouldn't come as a surprise that the Toronto Blue Jays were eager to announce that the incredibly athletic and talented Allen would be tossing out the first pitch before their game against the New York Yankees on Thursday at Sahlen Field. A former pitcher who could throw 90 in high school? That should be a treat to watch... but fans might want to be careful, if Allen's own worries are true.

We have a feeling he'll do just fine. After all, baseball players-turned-quarterbacks have fared pretty well in other instances of throwing out the first pitch, including when Russell Wilson arrived with the Seattle Seahawks in 2013.

Hopefully, however, it goes better than another Blue Jays' special guest's first pitch, one that surprised a good amount of fans based on his baseball background.
