Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - After a 31-19 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in Orchard Park, the Buffalo Bills have improved to 4-0 on the season, and remain the only team in the AFC to be unbeaten.
This has been nothing short of a dominant start to the 2025 season that now sees the Bills on top of the AFC. It's the first time Buffalo has started a season 4-0 since the 2020 season.
While Sunday's contest at Highmark Stadium maybe didn't go the way many thought it would, Bills quarterback Josh Allen was able to account for 254 total yards and three touchdowns (two in the air, one on the ground). Meanwhile, running back James Cook also helped carry the Bills to victory with 117 yards on the ground and another score.
The Bills have already made a run with their AFC East opponents this season, beating the New York Jets in Week 2, followed by a Thursday night win over the Miami Dolphins the week after.
Now the Bills will turn their attention to the New England Patriots this coming Sunday for a prime-time showdown under the bright lights of Highmark Stadium. This game will be a bit of a special occasion, as Buffalo is set to wear their "Cold Front" uniforms as part of the NFL Rivalries series of uniforms.
Looking at the Patriots, it's been a bit of an up-and-down start to the season with New England starting the year 2-2 with wins over the Dolphins and Carolina Panthers this past week. However, the Patriots did suffer losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders to open the year.
Meanwhile, second-year quarterback Drake Maye has gotten off to a good start to the season, throwing for 988 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions, while also completing a league-best 74% among starting quarterbacks in the NFL.
Leading the Patriots along the sidelines and in the locker room is head coach Mike Vrabel, who joined his former team this past offseason after spending last year within the Cleveland Browns organization. Vrabel played eight of his 14-year NFL career in New England, where he won three Super Bowls and was a First-Team All-Pro at linebacker in 2007.
While this Patriots team may be widely seen as the second-best team in the AFC East through the early part of the season, Howard Simon believes the Bills are up to the task.
After a win for the Bills in Week 5 over the Patriots, Howard does have the Bills losing their first game the following Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Following the loss and the bye week, Howard sees the Bills bouncing back strong with a seven-game win streak before picking Buffalo to lose against the Patriots on the road at Gillette Stadium in Week 15.
In the final three games of the season, Howard only sees one more loss in Week 17 when Buffalo welcomes the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles to Orchard Park.
In the end, Howard picks the Bills to finish the 2025 season with a franchise-best 14-3 record, and very much in the conversation for the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.
