Houston, Texas (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills found themselves in the losing column for a second-straight week with a 23-20 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon at NRG Stadium.
For the second-straight week, the Bills failed to get into a rhythm in the first half, especially on the offensive side of the football. However things started to click for the Bills in the second half, turning a 20-3 deficit into a 20-20 tied game in the fourth quarter.
However, the Bills lost the game in the final seconds off of a game-winning 59-yard field goal from Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn.
"I thought our guys did a great job coming back. Coaches made good adjustments, [but] just not enough in the end, and that's on me," said Bills head coach Sean McDermott following Sunday's loss.
With the Bills deep inside their own end and less than a minute remaining in regulation, the Bills called three-straight pass plays in an attempt to get down the field in a hurry. However, all three pass attempts fell incomplete, allowing the Texans enough time to get one last crack at a win, which they were able to with two seconds on the clock.
"The end of game situation on offense... they're holding three timeouts, got a good field goal kicker. We needed to run the clock and move the chains, and and that's on me. We didn't do that there, and that's my fault," McDermott said during his postgame press conference.
The Bills will look to snap their two-game skid next Monday night when they head to the Meadowlands to take on the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
